The Grand Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 54,374 in 1970 to 146,723 in 2010. That was an increase of 169.8 percent.
The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 806 in 1970 to 5,916 in 2010. That was an increase of 634.0 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.5 percent to 4.0 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 162.9 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Domestic migration (NDM) was the major factor adding population in the first two periods, replaced by B-D when NDM turned negative.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, the three factors retained the same relative roles.
